“Did you know there are 22 billion domesticated chickens on this planet?! That’s nearly three chickens per human. Chickens have long been companions to humankind, serving as a source of eggs, meat, and even companionship for some. Interestingly, the number of chickens continues to grow, particularly as more people around the world become interested in raising their own backyard flocks for fresh, ethical, and sustainable food sources.
So... how many chickens do you have? And if you’re just starting out or thinking about it, remember, it only takes a few hens to enjoy fresh eggs daily!“
Happy Twosday to you!
We’ve got a lot to dig into this week, and I’m excited to share it with you. At Blooming Health Farms, we’ve been putting in the work, and our latest project, the Egg Farm in a Box, is starting to take shape. As I’ve been setting up the new nesting systems, it’s reminded me just how important it is to build strong foundations. And it doesn't matter if you’re raising chickens or raising yourself.
This issue features some great content that touches on those same themes of growth and transformation.
First, I'll introduce you to Cooking with Purpose. I highlight how Chef Nash connects our rich agricultural roots with a mission to feed those in need. It’s a powerful look at how food can be a force for change, especially in a place like Weld County.
Then, I share some Food and Wellness Tips on how to break your fast the right way. You know that first meal of the day can set the tone for everything. So, I’ll talk about why starting with wholesome, nutrient-packed foods is key to staying energized and focused. Plus, we’ve got a little guide on Sprouting 101—it’s a simple, no-fuss way to boost your nutrition and supercharge your diet.
We’re also kicking off a new community initiative. It's called Pimp Your Flock, an online hub for backyard chicken keepers looking to sell eggs. And take their egg game to the next level. Whether you’ve got three hens or a whole flock, we are buildinga space where you can learn, share, and grow your small-scale operation.
I hope you find something in this issue that sparks a new idea, whether in the kitchen or with your feathered friends, and stay tuned for Friday’s newsletter!
Got Chickens?
Got Chickens?
Tired of seeing Facebook groups with “IS this a hen or roo” posts!?
Well, have you heard of Skool? No, not school…

We have started a new community called ‘Pimp Your Flock’ for backyard and small-scale chicken keepers who want to sell their eggs.
It’s a lot like a video game. You earn points and rewards and can unlock resources.
Check it out by clicking here… but only if you are serious about making money from selling your eggs.
Farm Updates
The Egg Farm in a Box is coming along beautifully! We just received the nesting system last Friday. Over the next few days, I’ll be installing the nest boxes, making sure each component is set up to maximize the health and productivity of our hens. This is a big step toward sustaining our egg production, bringing us closer to serving more of our local peeps
Keep an eye on our YouTube channel, where we are teasing about how the setup works and the insights we’re learning along the way!
