Happy Twosday to you, as my favorite bear would say! There is something majestically simple about that “silly old bear”, especially his love for honey-one of nature’s most complete foods.
Today, I want to chat about another of nature's complete foods, eggs, and touch on a less talked-about topic. Now, I won’t get too nerdy on you here, but I would love to have a microbiology mastermind with anyone who wants to ;)
Many people know eggs are among the most nutritious foods on earth, a cornerstone of any healthy diet. And research shows that organic eggs may be even healthier.
However, like raw meat, poultry, and fish, they are perishable and need careful handling to prevent food-borne illnesses. Unbroken, clean, fresh shell eggs may carry Salmonella Enteritidis bacteria, which can cause illness.
Although the risk is small, cases have been reported in recent years. To ensure safety, eggs must be handled properly, refrigerated promptly, and thoroughly cooked.
